I said goodbye to the dogs, and a couple of the team guys that will probably be gone before my vacation ends. I am going to just post a couple pictures of things that I did see around camp the day I left. The first one is the creek that runs through the base - Actually pretty cool to have water flowing through the area. It is kind of relaxing, and there are even fish in there. If you look close you you can see the signs pointing to home... Most of which are pointing towards Poland considering this is a Polish ran base. There are many signs like this one around the base.
Here is a picture of some ancient mud brick work that was part of a gate in a wall that I would pass by almost daily.... The little compound the wall is a part of is well over 100 years old, and from what I hear it is closer to 200 years old.
A picture of Snookie (I did not name her!) and two of the puppies. Oh, did I mention I said goodbye to the dogs?? Yes, yes I believe I did. The puppies all pretty much had their eyes open and were starting to actually get around. Not that you could tell by this scene.
The day wasn't all this boring... Finally made it to FOB Sharana which is located high in the Hindu Kush Mountains near the Afghnistan-Pakistan border. This place sits high up (roughly 7500 ft) on a plateau with great views of the surrounding valleys and mountains.
This was the part that made it all not so boring - I also got to end my day with an unexpected spectacular view of the total Lunar Eclipse!! Although I didn't get any pictures, I did hear that my Oregon friends also had a great view of this cool event.
That is it folks - That is December 10, 2011 of Traveling With Leo... Don't forget to click on the links ~ It will give you lots of info about the things I am experiencing.
I promise it will be getting better real soon!
Oh, and did I mention FOB Sharana has a coffee shop??? They do!!!
