Tuesday, January 10... Pretty uneventful day...

Hey Everyone ~ I'm back again with your Tuesday update!

Today was a very uneventful day here in Bangkok for me... I had planned to go out and check out the floating market, and maybe a couple of temples, but I found out that one of my friends was in the hospital about 17km away. She wanted me to come see her, so in the afternoon I set out on that journey ~ And it was a journey. There is a lot of traffic here in Bangkok in the late afternoon, so someone suggested I take a train and then get a taxi the rest of the way. Well, I was the dumb guy at the train station that didn't know how to buy a ticket, didn't know how to use the ticket, and didn't know where to stand to catch the train. I have used the train here in Bangkok before, but I always had someone experienced with me. I finally made it through the train part, then picked up some food to take with me, and proceeded to try and get a taxi the rest of the way. This area was a mad house ~ There were people everywhere!! People getting off of work, students coming from school, people, people, people, and traffic!! I could not find a taxi that wasn't already occupied, and I didn't want to get on the back of a motorbike taxi ~ Something just kept telling me "No don't do it"... I finally started walking down the road, and at one point had given in ~ I asked a motorbike taxi to take me to the hospital. He looked at the Thai writing that I had scribbled on a piece of paper and told me "Better you take Taxi". I guess not getting on a motorbike today was the way it was supposed to be. Just a note on that subject ~ Watched a motorbike taxi wreck in front of my taxi on the way to the hospital.

Finally found a taxi and was on my way.... With traffic it still took like forever to get there, but I finally did arrive safely at the destination. Then it was all about being lost in a hospital trying to find a room. I did eventually find her room and was able to see her. I brought here some food which was pretty much cold by this time, but it was still tasty. She laughed and wanted to know how I was able to order Thai food like I had brought to her since I do not speak Thai, and it wasn't just an easy order. When in Thailand do as the Thai people do ~ I just told the lady cooking the food to make me what she just made for the person in front of me. It looked good, and seemed like the easiest way to order.

My adventure for the day pretty much ended here... She wanted me to stay there with her and talk because she was lonely (No TV in her room either) and wanted company. I myself was wanting to get back to my nice hotel room... Don't really care for hospitals too much. But I ended up staying for what was going to be a short time, and ended up falling asleep on the couch in her room. At 4:30 A.M. I was up and running again ~ But I guess that would be tomorrow...

I forgot to mention that I also found several Geocaches in the area prior to heading over to the hospital.... In fact I was "First To Find" on one right here by my hotel. That is good for me ~ If you check out my profile on Geocaching.com you will understand why ~ My username is 143Chaos.
