Hello again everyone!!
Thank you for returning to my blog today for the coverage of Wednesday, January 18. I have had to cut back on the pictures due to the slow internet problems out here at the park.
Today was a busy day with my group ~ We all climbed into a truck and headed out for about a half an hour drive to a farm where we broke the top stalks off of a corn field by hand. They break the stalks before fertilizing the corn so that the fertilizer goes to the ears instead of the stalks. By going out and doing this work the park gets to take the stalks, and the Elephants eat the stalks throughout the night.
After we returned to the park for lunch we then had a meet and greet with Lek the founder of the Elephant Nature Park. From there we were off to find out what the afternoon had in store for our group.
The job that our group had for this afternoon was pretty much the same as yesterday since we were still mixing cement, and collecting rocks. This time we were building some rock fence posts, that when placed close enough together will keep the Elephants from going through. This allows the barb wire around the park to be removed which will be much better for the Elephants.
So on with the show!!

That is a bear up in that tree! From what I understand someone stole him from a bile harvesting facility, and then brought him here to the park. I was told that he was very sick when he arrived, and he is now a happy bear. At a bile harvesting facility they will use long needles to drain the bile from the bears Gall Bladder to sell it on the black market. |

There's that bear again. |
